The number of houses in Reedy Fork is expected to more than double when completed.

Reedy Fork has more than 1,500 homes and counting. But when all the construction finally ends, the neighborhood could see more than double that number. Initially approved for 4,400 homes in 2002, plans now call for about 3,500 homes. It’s still on track to be the largest housing development ever built in Greensboro.

During the annual HOA meeting held in December, plans for new development that were discussed included:

  • Middleton – recorded 157 lots to date with six more phases to go with 238 lots
  • North Village Towns – 179 unit townhomes by D.R. Horton
  • Cardeza Place – final three homes built out by True Homes
  • Linear parks
  • New playground
  • Covered picnic area, including benches and grills
  • Fenced-in dog park

Nearby, plans had included developing commercial land at the Summit Avenue and U.S. 29 interchange, which may include a grocery store and smaller retailers such as a coffee shop and convenience store. Details had not been announced.

Jeff White, chief operating officer at Greenhawk, a developer of Reedy Fork, told the Triad Business Journal in December 2022 there’s probably 400 acres left to develop. He said it would likely take place over the next decade.

“When all is said and done, we’ll end up with between 3,500 and 4,000 homes,” White told the Journal.
