There’s a dog barking in a garage or has been outside for a while and no one seems to be home. What do I do?

If you feel it’s in danger or its health is in question, call Guilford County Animal Control at 336-641-5990. If it’s an emergency and Animal Control is closed, you can call the police, although they may not have the resources to immediately respond.

There are animal advocates in the neighborhood including Sylvia Mayon, who can help direct you to resources such as spaying and neutering your pet. Others such as Diane Purcell are available for pet care.

Don’t we have a no soliciting sign that can prevent this from happening?

Short answer? No. People who live in the neighborhood enjoy an unfettered First Amendment right of freedom of association. That means even if a community association puts a sign up that says “no solicitors,” there is no law that makes that sign a legal restriction preventing someone from walking in a publicly accessible community. Bottom line is the Reedy Fork HOA can’t make it illegal for a person to be in a neighborhood.

Who do I call to report a vehicle is illegally parked?

Reedy Fork Parkway and Turner Smith Road are considered Priority 1 roads. The side streets are on a 2nd tier list.

Avoid parking on the street across from other cars so emergency vehicles can get through. If you feel that you will have to leave your house for work or other important business before the side streets are cleared, you can park your vehicle in the HOA office parking lot or at the community center for easier access onto Reedy Fork Parkway.

If you have questions or concerns about the clearing of a particular road, call the city’s main line 336-373-2489.

Reedy Fork HOA manager) reports this at Duke Energy’s website and then tags the light post with a yellow ribbon. After Duke Energy investigates, it will tag it with a red ribbon indicating a new bulb is needed. Duke Energy is then expected to fix the light. Repairs can take several weeks to complete.
